The Content Strategy Every Entertainment Exec Can Actually Execute
These past 2 weeks I spoke to 5 amazing entertainment execs:
1. Founder/CEO of an entertainment tech company servicing brick-and-mortar venues in mainly EMEA and NA regions
2. Immersive Storyteller who has just landed his dream executive role on the other side of the world
3. Experience Strategist with her own boutique creative studio helping brands develop standout campaigns and events.
4. Executive Producer who builds out family entertainment programmes for hotels and parks
5. Insurance consultant working specifically with entertainment companies.
All up.... some crazy talented and just all-round cool people.
As they told me about themselves, their journeys to get to where they are today and what they're currently working on, what struck me was how each of them was sitting on incredible stories they weren't sharing.
I couldn't help but think that if they'd just start telling their story on LinkedIn, they could easily start attracting...
- new B2B clients
- new full time roles
- new dream employees
- new pitch opportunities
- new consulting contracts
- new speaking opportunities
But like a lot of entertainment execs their LinkedIn profiles needed some love and attention. I encouraged ALL of them to just start posting.
Let's be honest...
'Just start posting' is terrible advice.
So let me make it a bit more tangible (like I did for these 5 execs).
Building out an entire content strategy for your LinkedIn may be a bit overwhelming. So instead of thinking big picture, let's just focus on getting a few posts out.
For a busy entertainment exec like you Reader, one of the lowest friction, easiest posts to write is...
The Build In Public Post
What is it? This post documents what you are working on - you share something from your day-to-day. Think of it like a behind-the-scenes, sneak peek into your world.
- new onboarding
- marketing campaign
- prepping for an event
- reviewing sales reports
- meeting with your team
- partnership announcement
The impact it has? This type of content shows your audience that you are actually doing the thing you're an expert in and working with real clients, employees, customers - ultimately building trust over time.
Here's How Other Entertainment Leaders Do It
To inspire your next build-in-public post, I've scoured LinkedIn to find these 5 great examples from your peers.
Carina Bauer - CEO of IMEX Group
Reflections on last week #IMEX25
(shared thoughtful insights from IMEX25 - the major industry event her company produces - positioning herself as a strategic voice)
Michael Moriarty - President & Managing Director, Hong Kong Disneyland
This year is especially meaningful as Hong Kong Disneyland Resort celebrates its 20th anniversary
(connected a business milestone to meaningful impact, showing how corporate success can drive social good)
Marie Lindqvist - Senior Vice President Operations Europe, ASM Global
Spent some time with our amazing team in Germany 🇩🇪
(combined team appreciation with regional market insights, showing hands-on leadership while demonstrating industry knowledge)
James Wallman - Founder & CEO of World Experience Organization
Oh the glamorous life of the “CEO” 😂😂
(used humour and behind-the-scenes reality to show the unglamorous side of planning events, making himself relatable while demonstrating hands-on commitment)
Christiana Brenton - CRO FlightStory & Co Founder FlightStory Studio
How does turning down $100M to bet on your own team feel?
(shared a high-stakes business decision with personal vulnerability, demonstrating values-driven leadership and team-first mentality)
So Here Is My Challenge To You!
Between now and next Thursday write and publish one build-in-public post. Pick one project you're working on this week and share either: the challenge you're solving, a decision you had to make or something that surprised you about the process.
Bonus points if you add a pic.
Then tag me or send me the post link. I'd love to read it and give it some love.
I guess there's nothing left to say than...
